JP Donnelly


JP Donnelly is Group Chief Executive of Ogilvy Ireland.  Ogilvy Group in Ireland is made up of a number of divisions in Advertising (Ogilvy & Mather), Public Relations (WHPR), Relationship Marketing (OgilvyOne), and Media Planning and Buying (Mindshare).  JP is also non-executive director of Ogilvy Group UK.

As a brand and communications specialist, JP has lead and contributed to the launch and development of many of Ireland's leading brands.

JP began his career in the despatch department of Peter Owens over 22 years ago.  His career took him to New York, where he worked on leading US brands such as American Express, PepsiCo, Kraft and Colgate.  He returned to the McConnell Group, where later he became Managing Director of Dimension (1994-99).  He joined Ogilvy in 1999 to head up the merged entity of Bell Advertising and Wilson Hartnell.

JP is also a former Hon. Secretary of UCD RFC, and the Irish Universities Rugby Union (1994-2002), and a former founder and Treasurer of the Students European Rugby Cup.  He was Chairman of the Marketing Institute of Ireland in 2002/3, and is currently a board member of the Crafts Council of Ireland, the Royal Victoria Eye & Ear Hospital, and MediaForum.ie.

JP graduated from UCD with BComm (1985) and MBA (1993) degrees.
