Michael Carey

Michael Carey is Chairman and majority shareholder of the Jacob Fruitfield Food Group and has almost 30 years experience in the food industry both in Ireland and the UK

Prior to establishing Jacob Fruitfield in 2002, Michael worked in a number of multinational food companies in Ireland and the UK. He has held the Managing Directors’ roles at Kellogg’s (UK / Ireland), Fox’s Biscuits and Evian / Volvic (UK / Ireland) and Marketing Director at Cantrell & Cochrane and Jacob’s in Ireland. He graduated with a B.Comm. and MBS from UCD and is a fellow of the Marketing Institute of Ireland.

He is also a Non-Executive Director of the Consumer Foods Board of Bord Bia, a Non-Executive Director of Traidlinks (an NGO working in Sub Saharan Africa), Chairman of the Soul of Haiti Foundation and Chairman of the Board of the Marketing Institute of Ireland

Michael has won a host of awards throughout his career including; the Irish ‘Ernst & Young’ Industry Entrepreneur of the Year award in 2005; the Board Bia Food Entrepreneur of the Year in 2004; and the Sunday Times Management Excellence Award in 2003. He was the UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School Alumnus of the Year in 2010.
