John P. Sievwright
John Sievwright retired as a Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer - International for Merrill Lynch & Co. Inc. having worked in their financial industry in London, Tokyo and New York for 25 years.
Mr Sievwright is a non-executive Director and Chairman of the Audit Committee
at FirstGroup plc, a UK-based transportation company. Since July 2009, he has served as a non-executive Director of ICAP plc where he is also Audit Committee Chairman.
From 1998 through 2001, he served as President and COO of Merrill Lynch Japan Securities, where he was responsible for the company’s corporate and institutional business, including all government and regulatory relationships. Between 1995 and 1998, he served as Head of Global Financial Futures and Options, and as co-Chairman of Merrill Lynch Futures Inc. Previously, he served as COO for the Debt Markets Division, and from 1990 to 1993 played a key role in building Merrill Lynch’s equity derivatives business.
Prior to joining Merrill Lynch in 1988, he worked at Bankers Trust in London and New York for five years and, prior to that, at Bank of Tokyo International in London.
John is a native of Scotland. He holds a Master of Arts Degree in Accounting and Economics from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland, and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland, having trained with Ernst & Whinney in Aberdeen. He is on the US Board of Trustees of the University of Aberdeen.
