John Duffy has been with Keefe Bruyette & Woods for more than 30 years and was elected Chairman and CEO in September 2001. Prior to that, he served as the firm’s President and Co-CEO since July 1999.
Under his watch, KBW went public in November 2006 (NYSE:KBW) and saw its stock jump nearly 30% on the first day of trading. In fact, Investment Dealers’ Digest named John Duffy its 2006 “Middle Market Banker of the Year”.
From 1990 to 1999, Mr Duffy was Executive Vice President in charge of KBW’s Investment Banking department. There, he was responsible for managing the firm’s substantial merger & acquisition practice in addition to KBW’s corporate finance activities in the equity and debt markets.
Prior to joining KBW in 1978 to run the firm’s Bank Watch division, Mr Duffy was a Vice President at Standard & Poor's in charge of ratings for depository institutions.
John Duffy received a BA in Economics from The City College of New York and attended the Bernard Baruch Graduate Program of the City University of New York.
Mr Duffy serves on the Board of Trustees of Saint Michael’s College in Colchester, Vermont and the Ursuline School in New Rochelle, NY. He also is a Trustee of Cardinal Hayes High School in Bronx, NY and serves on the Advisory Council of the Weissman Center for International Business at Baruch College.
