Galway Clinic - Prize Giving Ceremony

Friday February 29^th – The Galway Clinic prize giving ceremony took place at UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School to award the best student of the semester in the MBA in Health Care Management programme. 

The top prize, presented by Mark Sheehan, Business Development Manager of the Galway Clinic, was awarded to Elaine Barker, Deputy Physiotherapy Manager, Tallaght Hospital.  Second place was awarded to Alma Joyce, Occupational Therapy Manager, HSE.

The prize sponsors the winning student to attend Professor Henry Mintzberg’s Executive MBA Leadership Roundtable module 2008.  The event will take place in Reykjavik, Iceland, in June this summer.  Click here to view the agenda. 

The EMBA Leadership Roundtable is a unique opportunity for practicing managers in EMBA programmes from innovative business schools to get together and to share their managerial experiences, to probe, reflect and analyse the process of managing itself.  The winner will spend a week at the event working with Jonathan Gosling, Henry Mintzberg, and other select faculty on the nature of managerial work.

Henry Mintzberg is Cleghorn Professor of Management at McGill University in Montreal, author of many ground-breaking books on managing, organizing and strategy, and more recently on management education.

Jonathan Gosling is Professor of Leadership and Head of Executive Education, School of Business & Economics at Exeter University. He writes on management education, reflection, especially the importance of managing continuity through times of change.
