UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School has been ranked 38th in Europe by the Financial Times Masters in Management ranking of the top 50 business schools in Europe. Once again, the Financial Times ranking lists the school as the only Irish business school amongst the top 50 business schools in Europe, from 40th place in 2007.
In addition, the Community of European Management Schools (CEMS) Masters in International Management programme, of which UCD Smurfit School is one of 27 academic members, was ranked 3rd place in Europe. The full rankings will be announced on ft.com on Monday, 29th September 2008.
UCD Smurfit School has also been ranked 16th in Europe and 40th in the world by the Economist Intelligence Unit's ranking of the world’s top 100 full-time MBA programmes. The Economist ranking lists the school as the only Irish business school amongst the top 100 business schools in the world, up from 44th place in 2007.
Professor Tom Begley, Dean of UCD Business Schools, commented on the results today saying:
“We are delighted to be amongst the global elite in the prestigious Financial Times and Economist rankings. We will continue to devote resources to making UCD Smurfit School a centre of excellence in business education in Ireland and globally.”
Professor Begley launched his ten year strategy in 2006, formulated to position the school amongst the global elite and elements of the strategy are already underway.
As part of UCD Smurfit School’s international strategy, the school has benchmarked itself against the best schools globally over the last ten years. It was one of only nine business schools worldwide to be awarded triple international accreditation (US - AACSB, European - EQUIS and UK - AMBA) in October 2002 and is the only school in Ireland to hold this honour.
Since 2000 UCD Smurfit School has been consistently ranked among the leading business schools in the world by both the Financial Times and the Economist.
