Welcoming the new network, Professor Ciarán O hÓgartaigh, Dean, UCD Business School, said, “The Network is a forum where students and faculty from the world’s leading business schools will gather and exchange ideas on leadership in business, re-envisioning perspectives on the internationalisation of business. Re-imagining business on an international scale is an integral part of the curriculum for UCD Smurfit School, enabling and preparing our students for conducting business in different cultures. Exports and the development of international business are critical for Ireland and, by becoming a founder member of this new network, UCD Smurfit School is once again seeking out opportunities to grow our international partnerships and alliances, ultimately benefiting our students, the economy and Irish society as a whole.”
Traditionally, business schools have developed partnerships for specific purposes, such as student exchanges and joint degrees, within a limited set of countries. In contrast, relationships in the Global Network will be far-reaching and on-going. Schools will use it to exchange ideas, share and develop course materials including case studies that incorporate specialised regional expertise from member schools, engage students in global team projects and collaborate on data collection and faculty research. The schools are members of the network for an initial term of three years.
