Friday October 23rd, Deputy Prime Minister of Vietnam, Mr Hoang Trung Hai, visits Vietnamese students at UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School.
Four Vietnamese students, funded by the Department of Foreign Affairs, are studying on the School’s full time MBA programme. Vietnam is the regional base for Irish Aid’s programme in South East Asia and a partner country of Irish Aid. The scholarships were awarded as part of Irish Aid’s initiative ‘IDEAS, the Irish Development Experience, Sharing Progress’
The scholarships form part of a three year agreement between Irish Aid and UCD Smurfit School which will bring students from Vietnam to the School in each of the next three years. The agreement was reached after a tendering process by Irish Aid.
Commenting, Tom Begley, Dean UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School said: “We are delighted to be working with Irish Aid on this very worthwhile initiative. It provides an opportunity for some exceptionally talented young people from Vietnam to study here and the School is enhanced by the diversity of talent and culture they bring to us.”
The Deputy Prime Minister, who is a former student of UCD Smurfit School, was accompanied by a delegation which included Vietnam’s ambassador to Ireland, Mr Van Trong Ly and the Vice Minister for Finance Mr Nguyen Bich Dat. Ireland’s Ambassador to Vietnam, Ms Maeve Collins, also accompanied the delegation
