Programme Office Director and School Manager

Orna joined UCD in 2002, after graduating with an MBS (Michael Smurfit Graduate School). In 2010, Orna completed her doctorate at University of Edinburgh in educational policy. She has also completed qualifications in University Teaching and Learning, Training and Continuing Education and Education Technology. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (UK). Orna is module coordinator for undergraduate and postgraduate HRM and Research Methods modules in Ireland and overseas.

Programme Manager / Learning Support Officer

Valerie has worked in professional development and educational management across the private and public sectors. A qualified librarian, she holds a BA and Masters from UCD. Valerie has published in peer-reviewed journals and national newspapers on evidence-based decision making and the verification of information sources. She has delivered workshops and conferences papers on effective information use and has qualifications in management, training and teaching & learning.

Programme Administrator, Hong Kong and Sri Lanka Programmes

Neil joined the Centre for Distance Learning in July 2015 as the Programme Administrator primarily supporting the School’s programmes in Hong Kong and Sri Lanka. Neil graduated from Maynooth University in 2013 with a B.A. in Business and Geography, and completed an MSc in Human Resource Management in the UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School in 2014. Before joining the team he had been working in the healthcare sector.

Programme Manager, Hong Kong and Sri Lanka Programmes

Michele is the Overseas Programme Manager for Hong Kong and Sri Lanka programmes in CDL. Previously, Michele worked in the Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School UCD as both Programme Administrator and Manager. Prior to joining UCD, Michele worked as a Hotel, Conference & Banqueting Manager and holds a Higher Certificate in Hospitality Management from DIT Cathal Brugha Street. Michele holds a Bachelor of Business Studies Degree from UCD and a Master’s in Business Studies specialising in HRM

Programme Manager, Hong Kong, Singapore and Sri Lanka Programmes

Sarah is the Admissions Manager for all of the School’s overseas programmes. She has been in UCD since 2008 previously working as an Administrator in the Admissions Office, UCD Adult Education Centre, Veterinary Nursing, Medical Bureau of Road Safety in UCD, as well as previously working as the Programme Administrator for the Singapore programmes here in CDL. Sarah holds a BA (Hons) Degree in Economics & Politics from UCD

Programme Manager / Learning Support Officer, MSc Programmes

Joanna is the Programme Manager and Learning Support Office for the School’s MSc in Management (part-time) programme. She previously worked as a Programme Administrator and then as an Admissions Manager for the Overseas programmes in the Centre for Distance Learning at UCD College of Business. Joanna first joined UCD in 2006 where she worked in IT Services. Joanna holds an MSc in Tourism from University School of Physical Education, Krakow.

Programme Manager and Learning Support Officer

Kate joined UCD in 2012 after completing her PhD at Dublin Institute of Technology on the topic of workplace learning. Before joining the Centre for Distance Learning, Kate acted as the Senior Programme Manager for the E-CAM European HPC Centre of Excellence. Kate has lectured in Scientific Writing at Wageningen University in the Netherlands and delivered transferable skills modules in UCD. Kate also holds a MSc Marketing from DIT and a BA from University College Dublin.

Gerard Dooley

Assessment Administrator, Hong Kong, Singapore and Sri Lanka Programmes

Gerard is the Senior Assessment Administrator for the CDL’s programmes in Hong Kong, Singapore and Sri Lanka. He holds a B.A in English and History from the University of Limerick, an M.A in Modern Irish History from UCD and a Professional Diploma in Education from UCD. He joined UCD in 2012 and worked in both the Foreign Language Module and the IELTS exam units of the UCD Applied Language Centre. He has also taught English, History and Classical Studies at secondary school level in Dublin.

Assessment and Accounts Administrator, Hong Kong, Singapore and Sri Lanka Programmes

Edna holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Bilingual Executive Secretarial Studies from UNIESP (Uniao das Instituicoes do Estado de Sao Paulo – Brazil). She is currently undertaking a part-time MSc in Management with UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School. Edna has been working in UCD since 2010 in a number of roles including Customer Services Supervisor at the College of Business.

Chloe is the Programme Administrator for the School’s Overseas Programmes in Singapore. She joined the Centre for Distance Learning in July 2016. Chloe holds a BA (International) in English Literature from UCD and an MPhil in Irish Writing from Trinity College Dublin. Prior to joining the team she had been working in the adult education sector.

Programme Manager, Singapore Programmes

Christina is the Overseas Programme Manager for Singapore programmes in CDL. Prior to joining CDL in 2014, she has held a number of positions in the university. She has previously been employed in various roles in the private sector including the insurance industry. Christina holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Degree in Economics & History and a Master’s Degree in Economic Science from University College Dublin. She is currently undertaking a Doctorate in Education at the University of Glasgow.

Asia Manager

Shanshan is the Asia Manager and based full-time in Singapore. Prior to joining the Centre for Distance Learning in UCD she worked in a number of various roles in the Management Consulting and PR industry in Mainland China, Hong Kong and Ireland, and delivered a wide range of consulting projects across various industries in public and private sectors. She has previously been employed as a senior executive to establish a brand new International Business School in Mainland China.

Dr Cubie Lau

Dr Cubie Lau

Faculty Member, Singapore

Cubie is a full-time faculty member for University College Dublin (UCD) based in Singapore. She received her PhD from UCD, and undergraduate degree in Hong Kong and masters degrees from both the UK and Hong Kong. Prior to joining UCD in Singapore, Cubie held a one-year visiting position at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. She is a member of the Academy of Management and the Society for Business Ethics.

Dr Markus Vanharanta

Dr Markus Vanharanta

Faculty, Hong Kong

Prior to joining UCD's Asian program, Markus held a faculty position at the University of Lancaster. He has been a Senior Fellow in the Foundation for Management Education, a Visiting Fellow in the City University of Hong Kong, and an ASDA-FME Post-Doctoral Fellow in the University of Lancaster. Born in Finland, Markus spent many of his formative years in Japan, Hong Kong, the USA and the UK. He also has extensive international lecturing experience in the UK, Hong Kong, Singapore and Sri Lanka.

Dr Yung Chiang Yang

Dr Yung Chiang Yang

Lecturer of Finance

Yung Chiang is Lecturer of Finance at University College Dublin (UCD) College of Business. He teaches corporate finance, investments, derivative securities, and international finance at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Before joining UCD, he was a lecturer at Queen’s University Belfast for five years. He received his Ph.D. in Finance from Nanyang Technological University.
