| Dr. Ian Walsh joined the UCD School of Business in 2009 as a Lecturer in the Department of Management. He completed his PhD in Organization Studies in the Carroll School of Management at Boston College. Prior to his graduate work, Dr. Walsh worked as a Human Resources Manager for 8 years at Teradyne, Inc. and Data General Corporation. He has also worked as a consultant on leadership and organizational development issues in the electronics and health care industries. His personal interests include running, cycling, piano, reading, and travel. |
| In his research, Dr. Walsh examines the role of social processes in transforming negatively-construed conditions into constructive outcomes for individuals and organizations. In particular, he has focused his research on the context of organizational demise and its generative role in enabling the founding of new organizations. He uses qualitative and quantitative methodologies to examine how social identity and sensemaking processes shape and influence experiences of entrepreneurship, organizational change, and leadership. |
