RESEARCH INTERESTS I have broad interests in organizational behavior, in human resources and in cross-cultural management. I prefer to use, when possible, an interactionist approach for explaining complex psychological phenomena in organizations. Specifically, my research interests include:
Extending my dissertation research project, which used an experimental design, I conducted a cross-national (in Cyprus and the USA) field study where I tested a model that propositions that the relationship between Performance-Reward Expectancy and creative behaviours at work is mediated by intrinsic motivation and moderated by organizational culture and type of rewards systems employed. Another project follows my interests in identification. I am working on a conceptual paper that outlines how major organizational changes affect organizational identification, team identification and professional identification. I suggest that change affects these three dimensions differently and that the type of effect would be mediated by perceived uncertainty and moderators by team climate. I have completed data collection in a site of a major multinational that would serve to test my model. A related project aims to flash out further the concept of Professional Identification by demonstrating discriminant validity from related constructs as well as examining its antecedents and consequences. Lastly, along with a colleague in Cyprus, I am involved in a study (most data is collected) that aims to map Cyprus on the dimensions of the two leading cross-cultural frameworks, those of Hofstede and Schwartz. Among the aims of the project is to compare the profile resulting from both frameworks as well as compare patterns between different work sectors. |
