| Seán de Búrca worked on a number of engineering projects in Ireland, the UK and Australia, following his engineering studies. He returned to University College Dublin to complete a Bachelor of Commerce Degree and Master of Business Studies Degree in Marketing and received his PhD from the National University of Ireland, Galway. He held the position of Associate Dean of International Affairs for UCD School of Business in 2004-2005 and was Director of the Executive MBA programme from 1997-2001. He currently lectures in International Marketing, International Business to Business Marketing in UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate School of Business. He was the extern examiner for the University of Ulster and is currently extern examiner for the University if Technology Sydney and the Masstricht School of Management. He has lectured on a number of MBA programmes in France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Holland, Slovenia, Hungary, Romania, Cyprus, Malta, Egypt, Rwanda, Peru, Australia, Vietnam, Singapore Hong Kong and China. His main research interest is focussed on the management of business relationships in international business markets and he has published widely in this area in books, management journals and international conferences. He was a council member of The Irish Academy of Management, the Education Committee of The Irish Institute of Purchasing and Materials Management and is a member of the Marketing Institute. |
| My research agenda is focussed on international marketing strategy and the management of business-to-business relationships across the supply chain and relates to both academic research and contract research. The following themes feature in my research and publications: ¿ International marketing strategy practice and performance. ¿ The management of B2B relationships in international markets. ¿ Relationships dynamics in business to business markets. ¿ Contingency effects of B2B relationships on business practices and performance. ¿ Comparative study of B2B supply chain practices. ¿ Managing collaborative innovation in B2B supply chains in international markets. ¿ The impact of technology in B2B supply chains. |
