Biography:

Elaine holds a PhD in finance from the University of Technology, Sydney, where she worked as a lecturer in finance for 9 years.  She moved to Dublin in 1999 and began working at UCD in 2001.  Her research interests are mainly in the sub-discipline of corporate finance, and include small business financing, mergers and acquisitions, and foreign exchange risk.  Her capital markets research interests include hedge funds performance and regulation, the characteristics of stock market returns, and the history of the managed funds industry. She has published widely in a variety of finance and international business journals including the Journal of International Business Studies, International Business Review, Journal of Empirical Finance, Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of International Financial Markets Institutions and Money, Global Finance Journal, International Review of Financial Analysis and Venture Capital. Elaine has written newspaper articles for the Irish Times, the Irish Independent, the Sunday Independent, the Sunday Tribune, Irish News and Business & Finance.  She has appeared on several radio and television programmes including Morning Ireland and The Late Debate on RTE radio 1; 6-1 and 9 O¿clock News, Prime Time, The Smart Money and The Week in Politics on RTE TV; and The News, Ireland AM and Nightly News with Vincent Browne on TV3.
