The scholarship worth up to €34,500 can only be used towards tuition fees on the full-time or executive (part-time) MBA programme at UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School; it will be awarded to the best candidate who meets the selection criteria and standard MBA programme entry requirements as outlined below.

 

Before commencing your application, please review the entry criteria and terms and conditions below.

To enter the competition, you must fulfil at a minimum the following criteria/conditions:

  1. You must have a minimum university degree or equivalent professional qualification and a minimum of three years' relevant work experience.
  2. A panel of judges will select a short-list of candidates who will have to complete the standard MBA programme application process if they have not already done so by 22nd May 2017.
  3. You must have already taken or be prepared to take at short notice the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT). Admission to the programme is subject to achieving a minimum score* on this test. Further information at www.mba.com and www.smurfitschool.ie. NOTE: The Newstalk scholarship winner must have taken and secured the relevant minimum GMAT test entry score by 17th July 2017 at the latest.
  4. You must have two references, normally from current and/or former employer and/or colleague.
  5. The Newstalk MBA Scholarship will be awarded to the highest calibre candidate selected from the applications received, subject to their meeting, at a minimum, the standard entry requirements of the UCD Smurfit School full-time or executive MBA.
  6. UCD Smurfit School reserves the right not to award the scholarship if the judging panel does not deem any of the candidates to be of the required calibre.
  7. Final admission is subject to an interview/assessment centre (July 24th 2017).

* 600 minimum GMAT for full-time MBA / 520 minimum GMAT for part-time EMBA

  1. The Newstalk MBA Scholarship competition is open to residents of Ireland except employees of UCD and Newstalk, and their associated affiliated or subsidiary companies, and their immediate families, agents, or anyone connected with this competition.
  2. The competition is open to those who have already submitted an application directly to UCD Smurfit School for 2017 entry to the MBA programme.
  3. The winning candidate will be awarded a scholarship to an upper value of €34,500 towards the tuition fees of the UCD Smurfit School full-time or executive MBA programmes.
  4. The Scholarship will be awarded to the candidate deemed to be of the highest calibre by the UCD Smurfit School judging panel. The decision is final and correspondence will not be entered into.
  5. UCD Smurfit School reserves the right not to award the scholarship if the judging panel does not deem any of the candidates to be of the required calibre.
  6. The winning candidate has a choice of participating on the one year full-time MBA or either of the two executive (part-time over 2 years) MBA courses: Executive MBA Blackrock Midweek; Executive MBA Blackrock Weekend
  7. Candidates should have a university degree or equivalent professional qualification, a minimum of three years' professional experience, an acceptable score on the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT), and two references, normally from current and/or former employers and/or colleagues.
  8. Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by the judging panel, and must be available in person to attend interview/assessment centre.
  9. Candidates should be available to commence the full-time or executive MBA programme in late August 2017.
  10. The competition is not open to recipients of any other MBA scholarships being awarded by UCD Smurfit School, but is to open to those who have applied for 2017 entry to the programme.
  11. Closing date for entries: Monday May 15th 2017.
  12. Closing date for MBA application to be completed (if not already submitted): 22nd May 2017.
  13. The scholarship winner must have taken and secured the relevant minimum GMAT test entry score by 17th July 2017 at the latest.
  14. Winning candidate will be informed in summer 2017. Assessment Centre proposed for 24th July 2017.
  15. Classes commence late August 2017.
  16. No cash alternative.
  17. No substitutions allowed.
  18. Winner must agree to participate in publicity if applicable

Scholarships Notice

Candidates qualifying for more than one scholarship or bursary and successful in that, can’t add or combine them. They will be awarded the higher amount. Candidates can't transfer or use one scholarship or bursary between or against another programme. Scholarships and bursaries are also not allowed to be deferred to a future academic year so will be awarded to the student for the year they are offered a place only in UCD Smurfit. That is, students can't defer their place in UCD Smurfit to a future year.
