UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School will award up to three MBA and up to nine other Masters Programme scholarships consisting of 50% of the fees for the relevant course for enrolment in September 2012. The Scholarship may be deferred for up to one year at the discretion of the Review Committee.
If you are successful in your application for the Scholarship programme, you will then be in a position to apply for a personal loan to finance the remaining 50% of your course fees. This application will include a search of your credit history with a credit reference agency. Your place on the scholarship programme is offered subject to you securing finance for the remaining 50% of your course fees.
Applications under this programme are restricted to persons normally and legally resident in Ireland. Short-listed candidates will be asked at interview how they expect to contribute to the future development of the Irish economy. The Review Committee reserves the right to ‘claw-back’ a portion of the scholarship payments in the event that a successful candidate emigrates to work within two years of completion of the supported degree
You must have a university degree or equivalent professional qualification and meet any other admission requirements of the course you wish to study.
If you wish to study for an MBA you must have already taken, or be prepared to take at short notice, the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT). Admission to the MBA is conditional on satisfying the GMAT requirements of the MBA programme at UCD Smurfit School. The admissions process for the MBA also includes a special interview to assess the suitability of the candidate’s work experience for the programme. Further information at www.mba.com. To apply you must complete the special application form and in no more than 300 words say why you would like to study at UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School and why you need this scholarship to be able to do so.
The Review Committee will, based on applications, select as many candidates as it deems necessary for interview and candidates are expected to be available when required. There may be more than one interview. Interviews will take place during May 2012.
The scholarship will be awarded to the highest calibre candidate selected from the applications received, subject to their meeting, at a minimum, the standard entry requirements of the relevant course and who can also satisfy the Review Committee that they could not otherwise afford to study at UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School.
The Review Committee may request any evidence it considers appropriate from applicants to determine their financial need for these scholarships
The scholarships are not available to employees of UCD and any associated, affiliated or subsidiary companies, and their immediate families, agents, or anyone connected with the ‘Aspire 2012’ scholarship programme.
Application is open to those who have already submitted an application directly to UCD for 2012 entry to UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School.
The Review Group reserves the right not to award all of the scholarships if sufficient candidates of the required calibre do not apply. The Review Group may also, at its discretion, vary the number and composition of the scholarships awarded. UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School cannot guarantee a place on any particular programme to any scholarship recipient.
The decision of the Review Group is final and correspondence will not be entered into. Application for a scholarship means acceptance of these terms and conditions
The ‘Aspire 2012’ scholarships cannot be combined with any other scholarships being awarded by UCD Smurfit School or UCD.
