The Careers Service at UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School offers an efficient, effective and flexible service, which can be tailored to meet the needs of your company.

Advertising Your Vacancies

We communicate details of vacancies to our students via electronic posting and notice boards. We can also target specific classes in a mailshot, and we have a full email listing of all students, divided by course studied. Wherever possible, the Careers Service likes to have written notification of vacancies, covering some or all of the following points:

• The vacancy offered and a brief job description
• Type of applicant being sought (academic discipline, attainments, qualities)
• The salary level proposed
• The application procedure to be followed
• The starting date and closing date for applications

Company Presentations

If you would like to promote your company to students through a presentation, we can help you arrange this. These presentations normally last from 30 minutes to one hour and are often followed by an informal reception. Company presentations usually take place in the first and second term of each academic year. We provide suitable venues for your presentation and/or reception and arrange audio-visual equipment, as required. All events will be advertised on the careers service website, notice boards, employers’ programme publications and via email to students.

Interviews

If your company is interested in holding interviews on campus, the Careers Service can arrange interview rooms. We recommend that you hold interviews between January and April, to avoid the December, May-June and August examination periods.

Timing of Recruitment

Graduates are normally available to take up employment either in July, August or September, depending on their course of study. We have found that the best time for recruiting graduates is between late September and mid November and January to April. At this time, graduates are outside the major examination periods and are giving active consideration to their career path. However, we welcome notification of vacancies throughout the year.

Information Room

Within the Careers Service, we have an Employer Reference Section, which includes company brochures and application forms and a register of Graduates Employers. Should you wish to send us your company brochures or other information, we would be happy to add them to this reference section.
