Participants’ Profile - Class of 2005-06


Liz Barry

Liz is a Director and the Head of Corporate Affairs with Airbus Financial Services, the financial services arm of Airbus SAS in Toulouse, France. She is also Managing Director of EADS Corporate Services Limited which provides an array of services to the EADS Group in both Munich and Paris. Liz holds a BA from TCD.


Jim Corbett

Jim is Managing Director of Bewleys Ltd. Prior to joining Bewleys in 2000, he worked in various production, sales and management roles in the dairy and food sector in Ireland and the US working for Kerry, Golden Vale and Lakeland Dairies. Jim holds a BSc from UCC.


Pat Downes

Pat is Managing Director of Baxi Group. This group, which is part of a multinational, both manufacture and distribute a number of brands and products which generally focus on the heating & construction industries. Pat holds a BA from UCG and an MBA from OU.


David Doyle

David is Director, Finance at Xilinx. Most recently, David was Director, Compliance & External Reporting at Xilinx Inc. From 2000-03, he was Xilinx Ireland Controller. Prior to joining Xilinx Ireland in 1995 David was an Audit Manager in Coopers & Lybrand. David is a chartered accountant and holds a B.Comm from UCD.


John Gallagher

John is Managing Director and Director of numerous companies within the Lagan Group. The Companies are engaged primarily in the manufacture of construction materials, civil and marine engineering, airport construction internationally, construction, house building and property development. John holds a BE, MEng Sc and MBA from UCD


Sheila Heffernan

Sheila is the General Manager with The Drug Treatment Centre Board. Her career spans over 20 years in the area of addiction with the Statutory and Voluntary sector in Ireland and the UK, initially in a counselling capacity and for the past nine years in a managerial role. Sheila holds an MSc from TCD.


Seamus Hughes

Seamus is an accountant with a career in insurance, including positions in Irish Life Assurance and Royal London Insurance. He joined Barclays Insurance as Finance Director in 2003. In September 2003 he took up the position of Chief Operating Officer at Barclays Insurance and in September 2004 became the Managing Director.


Ralf Lissek

Ralf is CEO of the German-Irish Chamber of Industry and Commerce. He is also a non-executive director and/or company secretary of several companies. He studies Marketing & Business in Germany and England and has been working in the Netherlands and Belgium within the German Chamber network for many years before relocating to Dublin in 1999.

 


James Maher

James is Chief Executive Officer of Cologne Reinsurance Company (Dublin) Limited. Prior to becoming CEO, James held many senior roles within the Cologne Re organisation and other reinsurance organisations in Ireland and the UK. James is a qualifed actuary and holds an MA from TCD.


Marie McLaughlin

Marie's career has been in the Civil Service. She is currently based in the Department of Finance where she is responsible for the modernisation of Human Resources Policies for the Civil Service. Marie holds a BCL from UCD.


Gerard McMorrow

Gerard is a qualified accountant currently working as Internal Auditor in the Adelaide and Meath Hospital incorporating the National Children's Hospital (Tallaght Hospital). He has worked in various senior management roles in the healthcare sector for the last seven years, five of which were in private hospitals.


Patricia Nolan

Patricia is Business Support Manager with responsibility for Human Resources, Health and Safety and Waste Management at SIG Ireland, a specialist distribution company to the construction industry. Prior to joining SIG, she was with Tegral Group, a manufacturer of roofing products. Patricia holds a BA from UCD.


Peter Oakes

Peter practiced as a Solicitor (Ireland, UK and Australia) and is now Managing Director of a group of compliance and corporate governance consulting & training businesses. Predominantly specialising in UK & Irish financial services, Peter's businesses advise, train and coach directors & senior management on governance and regulatory requirements, including dealing with regulatory inspections.


Patricia Quinn

Patricia has a background in public service – as Director of the Arts Council for seven years, and before that, as Cultural Director of Temple Properties. She is now consulting in the private, public and third sectors, with a particular interest in corporate social responsibility. Patricia holds a BA and MSc. from TCD.


Frank Scott-Lennon

Frank is an independent management consultant following a career in the HR area within the engineering, food and pharmaceutical sectors. He is a Director of Griffith College Dublin, Unilever Ireland Trust Ltd and the Dublin Employment Pact. Frank holds a BA from UCD and a PhD from Cranfield.


Anne Slattery

Anne has been the General Manager for Kilkenny/Carlow acute hospitals since 2001. Prior to this, Anne worked in various management roles in the Health Service. Having trained and practised as a nurse/midwife in Ireland and the US, Anne also holds a BA in Public Management(IPA) and an MBA(UCD)


Paul Turpin

Paul has operated at a senior level in financial services with the Wealth Management Division of Anglo Irish Bank, Goodbody Stockbrokers and Irish Life Investment Managers. Previously he was Economic Adviser to the Minister for Industry and Commerce, with the NESC and with the European Commission. He has an MBA (UCD, 1982) and MA (Economics).
