At the HBAN Investor Syndicates conference, serial entrepreneur Conall Lavery was named Business Angel of the Year following a voting process among the Irish angel investment community.
Lavery received his award from Diane Roberts, HBAN national director, Gavin Duffy, The Dragons’ Den investor, and Tony McGovern, partner with Eversheds O’Donnell Sweeney. Lavery is a cofounder of the new €2 million TechExecs Investment Syndicate, which was also announced at the conference.
An active angel investor in the software sector and in renewable, Lavery has founded a number of companies, including Entropy which has turnover of more than €15 million and employs over 90 people. He was responsible for the start-up, scaling and sale of the business in March 2006 following its restructuring post –2001 and the dotcom crash. He was also a finalist in the 2000 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year programme.
Since leaving Entropy, he completed a diploma in corporate governance at UCD, played a role in a charitable foundation and provided consultancy services to Mainstream Renewable Power.
