Master of Accounting

At UCD Smurfit School, our accounting lecturers and researchers have an international reputation for excellence that will inspire you during your Master of Accounting programme.

Teaching methods

We use a range of teaching methods, such as lectures, workshops and seminars. Workshops include a focus on communication and other interpersonal skills, as do group exercises and IT laboratories. Regular seminars give you the chance to hear from senior accounting professionals and business executives.

Information Technology

You must have a personal notebook computer of a suitable specification for your studies. IT skills are an important element of the programme and a hands-on approach is central to the IT component. You will undertake computer laboratory work, focusing on:

  • Financial planning systems
  • HTML and XBRL
  • Databases and SQL
  • Enterprise resource planning systems

You will be supported by a full-time computing lecturer and dedicated course-specific servers. The main lecture theatre is equipped with a wireless network and there are extensive specialist computer databases of international accounting information. Securities are available to support your dissertation.
