Major Project

Module Description

This module introduces students to the principles of academic research. The Major Project provides students with an opportunity to demonstrate their ability to identify, collect, organise and analyse data and to methodically develop a cohesive argument to address a particular research question. Students will manage a small-scale project, allowing development of key research skills firsthand. This module is project-based and will take one academic year to complete. Students are invited to self-select a topic of interest from the business discipline and to research this topic from a theoretical and practical perspective.

What will I learn

On completion of this module students should be able to:

• apply concepts and knowledge acquired from in-depth study of the modules on the MiM programme through critical evaluation of relevant theory;
• attain a higher level of enhanced research skills through the scope and depth of enquiry;
• demonstrate advanced levels of information sourcing, summarising and synthesising
• acquire in-depth knowledge of the relevant industry practice and critically evaluate that practice in relation to the theory
• demonstrate a higher level of composition and structure in the overall presentation of a project of this significance
