While the sharing of experiences and perspectives with fellow students of different backgrounds and experiences is a key part of the learning experience, there is, of course a formal study programme. This covers a wide range of business subjects, such as corporate financial management, business law, management accounting, performance-driven marketing, business ethics, information technology management and more.
The course is designed to guide you through five steps over the two years of the programme
The programme begins with a week-long orientation. You will then begin to study your core courses. These are designed to help you: understand the characteristics of various company functions and how they contribute to a business; to identify techniques for managing problems within a business; how to integrate area management with managing the business as a whole; and to appreciate the role of the global environment in influencing business decisions
We offer an extensive range of elective courses that allow you to choose subjects to suit your career goals and develop areas of expertise of interest to you. These cover subjects such as taxation, mergers and acquisitions and strategic brand marketing. Second year students can choose a study trip abroad as one of their elective subjects.
The most recent trip was to China.
During the summer period at the end of second year you can choose to either submit a major research project, which we will tell you about when you join the programme, and which can take several forms; or complete three summer elective courses offered by academics from a number of renowned business schools, such as Wharton, Penn State, Cornell and London Business School.
Your Executive MBA is based on a combined grade for written examinations and the research project/summer electives. Almost all courses are marked on a mix of continuous assessment and written examinations.
