Why Smurfit?

Globally Ranked

The MBA at UCD Smurfit School is the only Irish MBA programme to be consistently ranked amongst the top 100 MBA programmes in the world and in the top 50 in Europe by the Financial Times and the Economist.

Accreditations

We are the only business school in Ireland and one of a small group of schools worldwide to hold the ‘triple crown’ of accreditation from AACSB (US), EQUIS (Europe) and AMBA (UK).  These accreditations benchmark us against the best in the world and position UCD Smurfit School on the global map. Attaining these accreditations requires us to continually evaluate and enhance our own courses and programmes.  We are also the only Irish member of CEMS, which is a global alliance of leading business schools and organisations.

Academic Leadership

UCD Smurfit School is a 100 strong team with one mission: To create the future leaders in business.  One of the keystones of our reputation as one of the World’s leading Business Schools is the quality and expertise of our Faculty.  At UCD Smurfit School we recruit leading academics across all programmes, many with experience from the world's leading universities.  This, together with their business experience, enables them to create a stimulating environment both in teaching and research.

International Diversity

The Smurfit MBA is an international programme delivered by a school with 45 years experience of the MBA, where almost 50% of the students on the full-time programme and 15% on the part-time programme are international.  During the year you will have the opportunity to take part in an international field study trip to China or Brazil to broaden your horizons and to get a taste for new cultures.  During these trips you will visit international companies and meet with key business leaders and decision makers.

Practical

All Smurfit School MBA programmes concentrate on the practical side of management and its relevance to the business world. Our programmes are reviewed on a regular basis in cooperation with our business partners. This ensures a corporate relevance to all courses, with a strong focus on creativity and entrepreneurship.  Both full-time and part-time (executive) programmes use case studies and company consultancy projects. Our MBA programmes concentrate on the strategic and entrepreneurial aspects of managing organisations.

Teamwork

Our culture is collaborative, so group work is an important element of our MBA programme. The ability to work with and lead others is what makes for better and more imaginative solutions.  Our small class sizes allow you to bring your own ideas to the fore and our interactive approach  allows your insights to be integrated into the programme.

Innovation

Our curriculum reflects your world as it changes. Shorter intensive courses, more industry interaction, core subjects in decision making and a focus on developing entrepreneurial talent, are some of the differentiating points of the UCD Smurfit School MBA.

Value

The MBA at UCD Smurfit School has been consistently ranked in the world's top 5 by the Financial Times as representing value for money.
