Off-Campus Accommodation

Supply of off-campus, accommodation in Ireland tends to surpass the growing demand – especially in the summer months.

Our advice is to ensure you have sufficient budget to cover cost of living, including accommodation.  You can view cost of living estimates here. It is important to keep in mind that postgraduate students will have budgets closer to the high model. There is little, if any, room for maneuver to find accommodation at the lower of median level.

Rented accommodation is usually furnished, with typical rent costs of €1,300 per month. An advance deposit equal to one month’s rent, along with payment of one month’s rent, is usually required to secure your letting. It is advised against transferring any money before visiting the property and meeting the landlord.

A UCD off-campus accommodation search engine shows listings of houses, flats, apartments, lodgings and general self-catering accommodation. To use the site, you need to register with your @ucdconnect email address. If you do not have a UCD email address yet, please email roombookingsupport@ucd.ie referencing your application number (Applicant ID/Application ID). This website has also some valuable housing advice relating to contract signing, tenant’s rights, deposit, inventory etc.

There is some advice on finding off-campus accommodation on UCD Residences and their Guide on living off campus is a good place to start.
