Sri Lanka MSc Merit Based Scholarships (UCD in partnership with NSBM)

Open to excellent candidates to the School’s MSc programmes from UCD’s undergraduate programmes in Sri Lanka which are run in partnership with the National School of Business Management. The Scholarship programme is funded by the UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School. Scholarships are awarded to academically exceptional students from Sri Lanka (currently residing in Sri Lanka) who will be ambassadors for their UCD Smurfit course and the School during their studies and after graduation.

This Scholarship programme aims to attract excellent candidates to the School’s MSc programmes in Dublin from UCD’s undergraduate programmes in Sri Lanka with the National School of Business Management.

These Scholarships are only open to either direct applicants to the School or students coming through a UCD recognised agent. Scholarships are open to self-sponsored candidates who have been offered a place on a full time MSc Programme. Applicants must have completed the application process to the programme of their choice and fulfilled all the necessary admissions requirements. Scholarship winners will be selected on merit.

There are two types of Scholarship on offer.

  1. Two 100% scholarships for graduates who must hold a Hons 1.1 equivalent in their overall UCD bachelor degree result. Selection will be based on the overall quality of their UCD Smurfit application which includes their UCD grades, English Language competence, C.V. and essays in the UCD Smurfit MSc application.
  2. Five 50% scholarships to the top 5 students annually across all streams in UCD Sri Lanka (by order of marks).

From our range of one year, full-time MSc programmes offered in UCD Smurfit, Dublin for the 2021/22 academic year.

Please note that UCD Belfield programmes run in conjunction with UCD Smurfit School - MSc in Biotechnology and Business, MSc in Biotherapeutics and Business and MSc in International Law and Business - are not eligible for Scholarships.

The process is very straightforward. Students do not need to apply separately to be considered for these specific scholarships. All successful applicants for an MSc programme are automatically considered. These scholarships are merit based.

The deadline for submitting your MSc programme application is 1st May 2021. Ideally, we would like applications earlier than this date.

Decisions will be made by the Schools Scholarship Committee on or before 30th May 2021. In exceptional cases, we may offer some of these Scholarships in advance of May 2021. All decisions are final.

Late applications will not be accepted.

The application deadline is 31st May 2021.

Successful candidates can be awarded one Scholarship only from The School.

If an awardee does not take up a place or accept the scholarship, the award may be made to the next ranked candidate. Awardees that receive an award and subsequently cease study will be ineligible to apply again. The Scholarship award may not be deferred.

Scholarships Notice

Candidates may apply for a number of scholarships, if they are successful in attaining more than one scholarship, however, they may only accept one scholarship bursary. Scholarship bursaries cannot be added together or combined.

Candidates will be awarded the higher amount. Candidates cannot transfer or use one scholarship or bursary between or against another programme. Scholarships and bursaries are also not allowed to be deferred to a future academic year, it is only applicable and awarded to the student for the year they are offered a place in UCD Smurfit. If a student, subsequently, decides to defer their offer they will lose their scholarship or bursary and be required to apply in the future.

If candidates are in receipt of a SUSI grant they are not eligible to receive a scholarship .

UCD Smurfit School Scholarships are not applicable to courses in UCD Smurfit Executive Development, UCD Belfield campus or programmes run in conjunction with UCD Belfield including the MSc in Biotechnology and Business, MSc in Biotherapeutics and Business and MSc in International Law and Business.
