Professor Niamh Brennan will moderate our invited panel including Martin Shanahan CEO IDA, Moira Flahive BL & Chair Leinster Rugby Inclusivity Committee, Ros O'Shea Corporate Governance Lecturer and Feargal O'Rourke Managing Partner PwC.
The commitment to an agenda of inclusivity and diversity starts at the top of the organisation, with the Executive Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and Board. Professor Niamh Brennan will discuss with panel members whether there has been transformational change in the area of diversity and inclusivity at Senior Executive and Board level in Ireland in recent years and explore the panel’s view on how changes since 2012 will affect the new Covid-19 business landscape.
About our Speakers
Moira Flahive is a Barrister practicing on the Dublin and Southeastern Circuits. She is a member of the Council of the Bar of Ireland and is the Chair of the Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity Committee of the Bar of Ireland. Moira is a qualified Arbitrator and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. She is on the panel of Arbitrators with Sport Dispute Solutions Ireland. She is also a member of the Sports Law Bar Association of Ireland and has umpired hockey to International level and has a lifelong passion for al sport.
Feargal O'Rourke, is Managing Partner, at PwC Ireland and leads the PwC Ireland Leadership Team. He is also a member of the firm's EMEA Leadership Team. Previously, Feargal was Head of the Firm's Tax practice and has been a Partner since 1996. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland, an Associate of the Irish Tax Institute and a graduate of University College Dublin. Feargal has over 20 years partner experience of advising multinationals investing in Ireland on Irish issues and European and Global structures. He has a particular focus on the West coast of the US and acts for a number of household names from that region. He also has advised a number of private, public and State companies on various tax and business issues over that time.
Martin D. Shanahan is CEO of IDA Ireland. IDA (Industrial Development Agency) is Ireland’s inward investment promotion agency responsible for the attraction and development of foreign investment in Ireland. Martin took up this position on the 1st September 2014. Prior to this, Martin was Chief Executive since 2010 of Forfás – Ireland’s policy advisory board for enterprise, trade, science, technology and innovation. Martin worked in a number of senior executive roles in Forfás since joining the agency in 2005. Martin has been to the forefront of the development of enterprise and innovation policy in Ireland including leading, at official level, the development of the Government’s Action Plan for Jobs between 2011 and 2014. Martin has represented Ireland at EU and International fora. Martin is an Adjunct Full Professor at UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate School of Business since September 2019
Ros O'Shea is a partner with Acorn Governance Solutions and is an independent director on the boards of BlackRock's funds in Ireland, the Bank of Montreal Europe plc, the Food Safety Authority of Ireland and Pieta House. She also chairs the PwC Ireland Alumni Association. Ros is an associate faculty member of the UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School where she lectures on the Diploma in Corporate Governance on culture and the role of the board and risk management for directors. Ros has over 15 years' experience working with the boards of CRH plc and Smurfit Kappa Group plc. Recently, as Head of Group Compliance & Ethics at CRH, she led a challenging change management programme across 35 countries with related training for 75,000 employees worldwide.
