Programme Ambitions - A Sustainability Toolkit for Opportunity
This programme has been uniquely developed with the directors and business leaders of the Irish food, drink and horticulture industry in mind. Businesses continue to encounter increased pressure and competing agendas from different stakeholders and this programme aim is to equip leaders with the toolkit they need to accelerate their businesses sustainability agenda. Recognising that peer to peer exchange is key for industry transformation, this programme will bring world class learning to Dublin with global thought leaders discussing how this challenge can be leveraged as opportunity to drive long-term value. It will give participants the tools to ensure that they are having the right conversations to thrive in this new era of business.
McKinsey states that 65% of the world’s economy or 65% of global GDP, has a commitment to becoming carbon neutral by 2050. With the Sustainable Development Goals, the United Nations countries have pledged to end severe poverty, challenge inequality and injustice and end climate change inside the next 15 years. Unsurprisingly, there is increased pressure on the global and Irish agri-food sector to deliver sustainability. This is driven by a powerful combination of changing consumer behaviour and demands, political decisions and the sustainability requirements of major global trade customers for the Irish food and drink industry.
Pre-programme online sessions will be curated to develop participants technical understanding of sustainability and regulatory policies. The programme will consist of three in-person modules, each three days in duration and delivered in UCD Smurfit Executive Development which will entail:
• Discussion and analysis of industry specific case studies.
• Real life problem solving by taking part in a live case study with a company outside the sector.
• Teaching seminars with global thought leaders in the sustainability sector.
• Peer to peer learning by means of immersive discussions with your peers.
