Goodbody and UCD Smurfit MSc Renewable Energy and Environmental Finance scholarships will be awarded to two high-calibre applicants, one male and one female, who have met all the eligibility requirements for the UCD Smurfit MSc Renewable Energy and Environmental Finance programme and who will represent the world’s next generation of business leaders.

Successful candidates must be able to demonstrate not only an excellent academic record but a capacity to understand emerging business trends and problem solving. The scholarship is open to all successful applicants for the MSc Renewable Energy and Environmental Finance Full Time programme.

Goodbody and UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School MSc Renewable Energy and Environmental Finance will be awarded to two high-calibre applicants, one male and one female, who have met all the eligibility requirements for the UCD Smurfit MSc Renewable Energy and Environmental Finance Full Time programme.

Candidates Key Attributes:
● Any nationality will be considered.
● Demonstrates leadership in another aspect of their lives.
● Exhibits evidence of driving social change within their community.
● Demonstrates personal and career ambitions in sustainability/environmental finance.
● One male and one female candidate only.
● Minimum 2.1 Honours Undergraduate in any discipline.

Successful candidates must be able to demonstrate not only an excellent academic record but a capacity to understand emerging business trends and problem solving. Open to all successful applicants for the MSc Renewable Energy and Environmental Finance programme (who are EU and Non-EU citizens but who are resident in Ireland for the duration of the MSc Programme).
Successful candidates will be selected on merit, paired with a holistic review of their MSc Renewable Energy and Environmental Finance application. The scholarship will be awarded to candidates deemed to be of the highest calibre by the UCD Smurfit Admissions Committee and Goodbody. UCD Smurfit School reserves the right not to award scholarships if no candidates of the required calibre are identified. The decision is final, and any further correspondence will not be entered into.

All eligible candidates who complete a programme application for the MSc in Rewnewable Energy & Environmental Finance by the deadline of 1st August 2023 will be considered for the scholarship.  There is no separate application process for the scholarship.  

The scholarship recipients will be selected and informed in August 2023.

  1. Goodbody and UCD Smurfit School scholarship competition is open to EU and Non- EU. Citizens who are residents of Ireland except employees of UCD and Goodbody and their associated affiliated or subsidiary companies, and their immediate families, agents, or anyone connected with this scholarship.
  2. The scholarship is open to all candidates who have already submitted an application directly to UCD Smurfit School for August 2023 entry to UCD Smurfit MSc Renewable Energy and Environmental Finance Full Time programme.
  3. The Goodbody UCD Smurfit MSc Renewable Energy and Environmental Finance Scholarship will be awarded to the candidate deemed to be of the highest calibre by the UCD Smurfit School. UCD Smurfit School reserves the right not to award the Scholarship prize if no candidate of the required calibre is identified. The decision is final, and any further correspondence will not be entered into.
  4. Candidates should have a university degree with a minimum 2.1 Honours or equivalent
  5. The winning candidate will join the full-time MSc UCD Smurfit MSc Renewable Energy and Environmental Finance Full starting August 2023.
  6. Scholarship consists of 50% of the MSc tuition fees for either EU or non-EU students.
  7. The competition is not open to recipients of any other MSc programme scholarships being awarded by UCD Smurfit School but is open to those who have applied for August 2023 entry to Smurfit MBA programmes.
  8. The successful scholar must agree to participate in the following: promotional activities, articles, events and any other ad-hoc promotional activity.
  9. The successful candidates will be the Goodbody UCD Smurfit School Scholarship brand
  10. Deadline for submission of MSc Renewable Energy and Environmental Finance Full programme applications: 1st August 2023.
  11. The scholarship winner must have taken and secured the relevant minimum entry score by 1 August 2022.
  12. The scholarship recipients will be selected and informed in August 2023.                        
  13. Candidates must be available to commence the MSc programme at the end of August
  14. Scholarships cannot be deferred to a future academic year.
  15. No cash alternative.
  16. No substitutions allowed.
  17. Candidates may only be in receipt of one scholarship, from either external provider or UCD, including a SUSI grant.

Besides the financial burden it had lifted, the Goodbody MSc Renewable Energy and Environmental Finance Scholarship is testament to that fact that I have, and will, contribute to the in-demand field of ESG and sustainability in a meaningful way. Receiving the Goodbody MSc Renewable Energy and Environmental Finance Scholarship instilled confidence in myself. As I am passionate about using carbon pricing and green technology to achieve a sustainable solution that will benefit our society, I would love to pursue a career in carbon markets to help combat the climate crisis and engage in 'finance with meaning as described by Professor Andreas Hoepner.

Scholarships Notice

Candidates may apply for a number of scholarships, if they are successful in attaining more than one scholarship, however, they may only accept one scholarship bursary. Scholarship bursaries cannot be added together or combined.

Candidates will be awarded the higher amount. Candidates cannot transfer or use one scholarship or bursary between or against another programme. Scholarships and bursaries are also not allowed to be deferred to a future academic year, it is only applicable and awarded to the student for the year they are offered a place in UCD Smurfit. If a student, subsequently, decides to defer their offer they will lose their scholarship or bursary and be required to apply in the future.

If candidates are in receipt of a SUSI grant they are not eligible to receive a scholarship .

UCD Smurfit School Scholarships are not applicable to courses in UCD Smurfit Executive Development, UCD Belfield campus or programmes run in conjunction with UCD Belfield including the MSc in Biotechnology and Business, MSc in Biotherapeutics and Business and MSc in International Law and Business.
