The UCD Smurfit Career Development Centre combines its local employment market knowledge with expertise from around Europe to ensure you have access to the latest information and training to identify and secure the best possible career after your MBA.
Job search success is a year-long process and you get out what you put in. We are here to offer guidance, training and insight each step of the way.
Our class size means that, unlike many other MBA programmes, we are able to offer unlimited one-to-one meetings with the Career Development Centre for personalised careers advice, CV review and interview coaching. This is crucial, as we understand that the career goals and prior experiences of MBA students are extremely varied.
Delivered in-house and by leading experts from around Europe, we organise workshops and presentations to help you clarify your career goals, fine-tune your job search strategies and adopt the most effective approach to the marketplace. They include:
- MBA Job Search Strategy
- Identifying your Career Motivators and Transferrable Competencies
- Consulting Careers in Ireland and Abroad
- Dublin Tech Sector Careers
- Strategic and Tactical Networking
- Communicating your Personal Brand
- CVs with Impact
- Case Study Interview Skills for Consulting & Tech
- Competency Based Interview Skills
The UCD Smurfit Alumni Network is the most extensive and supportive MBA network in Ireland. We arrange evenings throughout the year where we invite alumni from key sectors to share their experience with students and meet with them informally over drinks. This helps our students build a local support network who they can call on for industry and company specific insights, introductions and assistance with identifying job opportunities.
Full-time MBA students are also allocated an alumni mentor, to assist them with building a local network and advising them on the workings of the Irish employment market.
All MBA students, but especially Executive MBA students who are not on campus regularly, can benefit from an extensive suite of the latest online MBA careers resources for support and information 24/7, including:
- MBA Exchange for MBA jobs and recruitment events in Ireland and globally
- ManagementConsulted.com for case interview training and information on consultancies who hire MBAs around the world
- Firsthand for virtual meetings with a network of industry advisors around the world
- Penhela for online competency interview training
- VMock for CV review and feedback based on machine-learning technology
Every year we help to prepare you for real interviews via mock interview sessions with alumni and recruiters. This practice is key in ensuring you receive tried and tested advice from experts and the skills to create a good impression when it really matters. Our most recent mock interviews were conducted by representatives from Kerry Group, Deloitte, Accenture and Bank of Ireland.
