UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School’s MSc in Human Resource Management programme was recently re-accredited as a CIPD Approved Centre.

The CIPD is the professional body for HR and people development. It offers clear learning and career pathways and sets the international standard for the HR profession– the values, knowledge and behaviours that equip HR practitioners in their work. Students completing the programme will be eligible for CIPD Associate Membership.

“CIPD membership is recognised and highly regarded by employers” said Professor of Employment Relations at the UCD College of Business Colm McLaughlin.

“Professional membership demonstrates that you meet the CIPD’s rigorous criteria and standards for best practice in HRM. It gives you a competitive edge in the job market, enabling you to meet your career objectives. As Ireland’s leading business school, UCD Smurfit School is proud to be part of this important global community,” concluded McLaughlin.

In applying for reaccreditation, the MSc HRM Programme underwent a full review to ensure the content addresses the contemporary challenges that HR practitioners face.

With almost 160,000 members globally, and a growing community using its research, insights, and learning, the CIPD provides a strong voice for its profession. It works with governments and organisations to campaign for better work. It helps people managers to support their diverse teams to get the best out of their people, meeting the demands of changing workplaces and working practices.

As described on their website, “CIPD has been championing better work and working lives for over 100 years. It helps organisations thrive by focusing on their people and collaborates to shape work that is better for everyone. The CIPD wants to see good work within inclusive and responsible businesses, making our economies and societies stronger. In our changed and changing world of work, the need to deliver on this has never been more urgent.”
