Eavan Coakley, Senior Dealer at Bank of Ireland

Thursday, November 2- The UCD Smurfit Finance Group hosted a guest speaker event as a part of the Women in Finance student initiative which featured Eavan Coakley, Senior Dealer at Bank of Ireland.

The event was moderated by Twisha Soni, Head of the Women in Finance group and a recent graduate of the MSc Finance programme.

Eavan joined Twisha in discussing her career beginnings, working across three different countries and working at Bank of Ireland. She spoke about her interest in economics, specifically the effects of inflation, and how it has stayed with her throughout her career. She also spoke about the history of the aircraft financing industry in Ireland, how sustainability and ESG are becoming increasingly important in the banking industry and her thoughts on the future global economic landscape.

The most significant aspect of the conversation was about the importance of networking, the power of resilience and how continuing education can play a huge role in one’s success in the industry.

Students enjoyed learning about her experiences and certainly took several pieces of wisdom from her.
