Biography :

Nanhong Qian is a dedicated PhD researcher in Finance, specializing in the intricate relationships between Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) performance and corporate financial decision. Her research primarily investigates the non-linear impact of ESG performance on the cost of capital – including both equity and debt – and explores how ESG influences the speed of adjustment (SOA) of corporate capital structures towards target leverage ratios. Her work seeks to uncover nuanced, context-dependent effects that challenge traditional linear assumptions in sustainable finance. Prior to her doctoral studies, Nanhong earned a Master's degree in Finance from University of Glasgow and a Bachelor's degree in Finance and Accounting from Bangor University and Central South University of Forestry and Technology.
