Biography :

Suhail Shersad is a PhD researcher in Finance. His research examines debt markets, climate risk, and financial stability, with a focus on how climate transition shocks affect firm solvency and capital positions, and how these effects accumulate and transmit through the banking system.

He has professional experience across financial strategy, government consulting, and multilateral development. He served as an Assistant Vice-President at Citigroup in New York City, working on financial and climate risk modelling, including climate risk stress testing and scenario analysis for banking portfolios. Prior to Citigroup, he was a Consultant at the World Bank in Washington DC, advising governments on economic and regulatory reform, infrastructure finance, and climate resilience, including carbon pricing frameworks. His career has spanned economic development projects across Asia and the Middle East, as well as banking and financial sector projects in the United States and Europe. He contributed as a co-author to flagship publications such as the World Development Report 2021: Data for Better Lives, and other reports at the World Bank and elsewhere.

Suhail holds a master’s degree in international finance and economics from The Fletcher School at Tufts University, where he was a Harry A. Radliffe II Scholar, and his undergraduate degree in economics from India.
