UCD alumni-developed project, Comfort4Covid, was recognised in the COVID-19 Group Awardees at the Volunteer Ireland Awards. Ciara Close, Emma Farrell and Suzanne Stewart, all UCD Smurfit School MBA alumni, started the project in March 2020.

According to the Volunteer Ireland Award website, “The Volunteer Ireland Awards are the major annual initiative to celebrate volunteers in Ireland. The awards shine a light on the remarkable achievements of volunteers around the country by honouring them at a national level.”

“A lot of people put in a lot of work to help vulnerable people with Comfort4Covid. It’s fantastic to get recognition of that as COVID-19 Group Awardees at the Volunteer Ireland Awards,” commented Ciara Close on LinkedIn. “Ours was just one example of the incredible impact people can have in responding to an unprecedented crisis…”

The group consists of a team of 11 dedicated volunteers, eight of whom are UCD alumni.

Congratulations to Ciara Close (UCD), Suzanne Stewart (UCD), Emma Farrell (UCD), Kevin Pattison (UCD), Niamh Close (St. Pats), Cathy McEvoy (UCD), Kathy Le Gear (UCD), Ben Doggett (UCD), Mohit Jain (UCD), Flavia Lenz Bannitz (TUD) and Ciaran Nolan (TUD).
