IDA’s CEO appointed as Adjunct Professor at UCD Smurfit School

Monday, 14th October 2019- Mr Martin Shanahan has joined the UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School for a five-year appointment as an Adjunct Full Professor.

Given his busy role as CEO of IDA Ireland, Shanahan will undertake a limited number of lectures to MSc, MBA and Executive Education students on topics such as industrial policy, Irish competitiveness, investment decision making, strategy development and leading and managing through change. 

Shanahan brings a wealth of international business and national policy experience to the role and will offer students a unique perspective on Ireland’s industrial development, economic competitiveness and attractiveness to foreign direct investors. He will also offer insight into the strategic, decision-making processes of global, multinational companies. 

Shanahan currently serves (since 1st September 2014) as the CEO and a Board member of IDA Ireland and was previously Chief Executive of Forfás – the national policy advisory board for enterprise, trade, science, technology and innovation. He holds an M.Res (Education) from Lancaster University, a B.Sc (Mgmt) from Trinity College Dublin as well as an M.Sc and H.Dip from Dublin Institute of Technology.
