UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School’s full-time MSc in International Management has been ranked 22nd in the world, according to the prestigious 2016 Financial Times global Masters in Management ranking (MiM), published 12th September 2016.

Rankings with strict objective criteria such as those set by the Financial Times are the only truly independent and internationally respected classifications by which the world’s top masters courses are ranked. The MiM rankings analyse a number of criteria including: school diversity, career progress, international experience and research. With regards to school diversity, 48% of the 2015/16 class were female while 91% of the class were from overseas, positioning the school in the Top 10 for international students.

Today’s MiM ranking is the latest in a series of highly respected independent validations of UCD Smurfit School’s status as Ireland’s top graduate business school. Other courses recognised for excellence by the FT include the MSc in Finance, ranked at 34th; the Smurfit Executive Education Open Enrolment programme, at 69th; the Smurfit full-time MBA, at 79th; and the Executive part-time MBA placed 82nd.

Commenting on the ranking, Professor Ciarán Ó hÓgartaigh, Dean, UCD College of Business said: “Today’s FT ranking announcement clearly demonstrates that the teaching and research of our faculty rank among the very best internationally. The reputation of UCD Smurfit School continues to grow internationally and the fact that this course is recognised as 5th in the world for international mobility indicates that UCD Smurfit School’s graduates are in demand - not just in Ireland, but around the world.”

Professor Andrew Deeks, President of UCD said: “This position in the FT rankings reflects the excellence of UCD Smurfit School. Our graduate business programmes are self-funding, unlike our undergraduate courses which have been starved of investment for almost a decade. This performance proves that UCD can and does compete with the best in the world when the appropriate investment is made.”

In addition to the international rankings, UCD College of Business remains the only business school in Ireland (and one of only 60 worldwide) to hold accreditation from three centres of business and academic excellence: EQUIS (Europe); AACSB (US); and AMBA (UK).
