UCD College of Business has announced the next evolution of leadership in business education with the UCD Moore Centre for Business. Advancing the vision of the UCD College of Business which is to continuously redefine how business leaders are developed, the revolutionary project is focused on student success and preparing to work in a rapidly changing, global landscape. The new building will open in September 2019.

The project, a key initiative of College’s overall strategic plan to be among the world’s top 50 business schools by 2020, is an exciting co-creation between private philanthropy, corporate support and UCD College of Business to trailblaze the future of business education.

The €20 million investment will fuse the UCD Lochlann Quinn School of Business facilities at the UCD Belfield campus with a bespoke space designed to expand collaboration and interconnectivity between students, faculty and corporate partners around the globe.

Features include the latest advances in interactive learning environments, extensive co-working zones, and transformative learning experiences to integrate data analysis with real-world problem solving. A showcase 320 seat lecture theatre, Entrepreneurship and Innovation Hub, Media Suite, Skills Quarter Support Area, and THINK Lab complete the forward-thinking initiative.

In an increasingly competitive international business environment, the world-class facilities at the UCD Moore Centre for Business champion the global classroom and development of Irish and international business talent to compete effectively in global markets. The mix of invigorating spaces, curriculum and overall student experience will energise a new generation to entwine social and academic life as they develop their passions as tomorrow’s business leaders.

An extraordinary foundational gift donated by Angela Moore in memory of her late husband George, a passionate advocate for excellence in business education, initiated the ambitious concept. Corporate leaders have joined this visionary project and will be announced in due course.

Professor Anthony Brabazon, Dean, UCD College of Business said:
“As Ireland’s leading business school we constantly challenge our offering to ensure we have world-class facilities that present our students every opportunity to excel and differentiate themselves as they enter the world of business. The UCD Moore Centre for Business will allow current and future students to learn in an environment that celebrates innovation, creativity and adaptability—characteristics we know to be valued in the workforce and society as we face bold and audacious global challenges.”

Dr Maeve Houlihan, Associate Dean of the UCD College of Business and Director of UCD Lochlann Quinn School of Business added:
“Our students have told us that when we change spaces, it changes how we teach and what is learned. Through this extraordinary initiative, faculty and staff can now meet our students where, and how, they learn best as we transform the traditional classroom. This is about students, about business, about society and about changing the way we live and work. This is the future of business education.

The UCD Moore Centre for Business allows our students to stretch and thrive both within and outside of the classroom, side by side with faculty and fellow students which is a better representation of how they will work after graduation. This learning environment gives them “a leg up” and experience in developing communication and problem-solving skills, teamwork know-how, and inter-cultural confidence.”
