The Part-time hybrid online MSc in Project Management is delivered over two years and uniquely combines online and on-campus learning. Classes are held Monday and Wednesday 6pm – 9pm in year one and Tuesday and Thursday 6pm – 9pm year two and students have the option to join live via Zoom, attend in person on campus, or combine both options over the course of the programme.

This flexibility means students can gain a UCD qualification whilst based anywhere in Ireland or indeed Europe.

This is a challenging and rewarding, fully accredited, UCD course targeted at busy professionals and devised to hone the planning, organisational, control and leadership skills required to pursue or continue a high-level project management career. The programme equips participants with a broad perspective of project and programme management, as well as key business and interpersonal skills. The programme is academic led and supported by expert practitioners and involves applied learning through real-world company projects.

This delivery mode solves a problem for busy professionals who are time poor, would like to study part-time, and are attracted to a UCD qualification where they do not have to physically travel to class every week. This mode of delivery facilitates remote learning whilst enabling students based all over Ireland and indeed further afield to join our programme and build their network. Online classes are synchronous meaning students are required to join live either online or on campus from 6-9pm on Monday and Wednesday evenings.

Graduates of this programme have flourished in roles such as Project Manager, Programme Planner, Project Engineer Development Manager or Management Consultant.

All students are entitled to Graduate Membership of the IMCA (Institute of Management Consultants & Advisors in Ireland) for the duration of the course and one-year post-qualification.  All students are also entitled to register as student members of the APM (Association for Project Management) for the duration of their studies.

About Our Delivery

Our guiding principle in offering flexibility is to place student experience and choice at the heart of our teaching and enabling our students to connect in new ways that better suit their preferences and professional commitments.

Students will study in teaching spaces and digital learning environments designed to enable on-site/online participation in all teaching and learning activities. In class teaching will be livestreamed so that participants can join remotely thereby whilst building a class community that exists virtually and on campus. Our teaching will accommodate virtual learning as well as virtual group work so that all students have a shared experience.  Classes and contributions will be recorded so that students can watch back later to enhance their learning. All classes will be recorded, enabling review of sessions and further flexible hybrid learning – which is very useful for reinforcing learnings and revising points covered in class.

Remote students will be expected to join each class at the time it runs in-person at Smurfit, with their cameras on.  Class participation and interaction is a key aspect of the programme and every effort will be made to integrate the in-person and remote students in each class.
