Programme Content

The programme comprises of two modules, ‘The Theory and Practice of Business and Executive Coaching’ and ‘The Practice of Business and Executive Coaching in the Workplace’ and is delivered over six workshops and concentrates on both theoretical and practical input. Upon successful completion, participants will be awarded a UCD Smurfit Executive Development Professional Diploma in Business and Executive Coaching (30 credits at NFQ Level 9).

Content

 Addresses key areas including definitions of coaching, coaching principles, spectrum of coaching skills, the GROW model, coaching supervision and getting started with a client.

Addresses key areas including the psychological dimension of coaching; the four dimensions of a coaching session (anxiety, threat, self-protection, self and relationship management), the Gestalt approach, emotional intelligence and group supervision.

Provides participants with an understanding of the creative approaches to coaching and covers key areas such as identifying your coaching agenda, coach practice, group supervision and coaching demonstrations.

Examines the process of change and addresses key areas such as the Prochaska model of Change, the Cycle of Experience, Immunity to Change, group supervision and coach practice.

Explores the key areas of coaching and leadership. It is designed to provide participants with an understanding of authentic leadership.

Provides participants with an in-depth understanding of the organisational aspects of coaching. It covers topics such as contracting with the organisation, the emergence of team coaching and the role of line managers in coaching.

In addition there will be 3 x 1 hour group conference call 'check-ins' scheduled to assist with the completion of the 90 hours of coaching programme requirement.

Our dedicated team of faculty are widely recognised as skilled educators, ground-breaking researchers and accomplished authors. Through publishing, consulting and teaching they leverage their business expertise and field-based research to deliver programmes, encourage participants to develop new ways of thinking, widen their perspectives and to understand their own challenges and capabilities.

The faculty present topics via a range of engaging methods such as ‘action learning’ projects, case studies, role plays, individual assessment and one-on-one coaching, so as to deliver a unique and lasting learning experience.

 

Director of Post Graduate Coaching Programmes with PB Coaching.

He is a highly experienced Coach Supervisor, coach, counsellor and psychotherapist. In addition he has worked for many years in higher education as Course Leader and Programme Manager for the delivery of courses at Undergraduate and Masters Level. Geoff is particularly interested in the education and training of people in work settings, developing their capacities as “reflective practitioners”, facilitating the integration of knowledge, skills and personal awareness to enhance performance in their professional roles. His extensive University lecturing and programme management background provides firm support for those participants unfamiliar with undertaking a programme at postgraduate level.


Geoff also has an extensive background, interest and understanding of the key ideas, writers and research in coaching and related fields, and a talent for presenting complex ideas in a concise and engaging manner. His particular area of interest and research is the importance of the relationship in professional settings. He is a member of the EMCC and is committed to ensuring that all training programmes delivered by PB Coaching are of the highest possible standard.

Colm Murphy is a successful executive coach with a passion in assisting leaders and their teams to achieve meaningful behavioural changes that drive business results. Colm set up his own coaching practice in June 2009 following ten years in senior global Learning and Development roles. Colm helps leaders and teams improve their performance by raising their awareness of their attitudes, assumptions and behaviours and the impact these have on their effectiveness.

He is a strong advocate of focusing on people’s strengths and passions in order to help them be truly distinctive and impactful in all aspects of their lives. Colm’s coaching experience is mainly with high potential employees and leaders in large multinationals. His coaching ranges from preparing individual contributors for management roles to helping senior leaders transition to building increased emotional intelligence to helping leaders widen their impact on their organizations to helping people reignite their careers. He has also coached a number of senior leadership teams around the areas of trust and team communication and commitment.

Colm's coaching style is to work with the coaching client raise their awareness in order to unlock their potential and achieve their goals. Colm combines his strong coaching presence with his strong commercial experience coupled with a psychological approach to development. His area of expertise is in the psychological approach and skills he uses to uncover the core agendas of the clients he works with. Colm holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Executive Coaching; Postgraduate Diploma in Coaching Psychology; Masters in Accounting; Bachelor of Commerce; Postgraduate diploma in Training & Development; Qualified and certified administrator of Birkman Method; Qualified and certified administrator of the MBTI® - Myers Briggs Type Indicator, personality preference assessment; Qualified NLP Practitioner and is a Member of EMCC.

Yvonne Fagan is an executive coach with expertise in coaching for performance, behavioural change and personal development. Yvonne’s corporate experience includes ten years in the sales division of a large IT multinational, where she held a senior consultative role developing senior teams and first line managers both in Ireland and Europe. 

Yvonne set up her own coaching practice in 2008 and is currently involved in range of coaching work from one to one coaching, team coaching and back to work programmes. Yvonne works with a wide range of clients from front line managers to Chief Executives in both the public and the private sector.  Prior to becoming an executive coach, Yvonne worked in a variety of roles in sales and marketing in Ireland.  The selection of coaching work that Yvonne has completed ranges from performance improvement to personal development, including leadership competence and team development.  Using a psychological approach to develop people is Yvonne’s core area of expertise which enables her clients get results both in their personal development and organisational goals.

Kevin worked in the financial services sector for thirty three years. He recently retired as Executive Head of Learning & Development at AIB Bank having previously gained a variety of business & financial services skills and life experiences working in; Branch Banking, Business Process Re-engineering, Organisational Change Management, Strategic Business Planning and Business Development.

Kevin has ten years coaching experience, working as an internal coach, with executive members of the senior management team in AIB and also working with managers in the Not-For-Profit/Charity sector, the Pharmaceutical sector, the Food Manufacturing/Catering sector, the White Goods Retailing sector and the Credit Card Merchant Services sector.

Pamela is an experienced coach who works with individuals and teams.

Pamela has worked as a coach tutor and coach supervisor for five years, an executive coach for eight years and has run a performance management consulting business since 2004.

As well as her private executive coaching practice, some of the projects that Pamela works on or has worked on recently include:

Leadership coach for four years from June 2010 to June 2014 with Diageo Ireland. Pamela was employed specifically for the development and implementation of a leadership development and coaching programme for 30 social entrepreneurs who were recipients of the Arthur Guinness Fund.

  • Coach on the Smurfit School MBA programme, coaching ten MBA participants per annum since 2010.
  • Associate coach with Novum Coaching in the UK, delivering coaching skills and team coaching programmes for their clients in the UK.

Prior to working as a coach, Pamela was business performance manager with Diageo Ireland and started career as a project manager with Bord Bia (The Irish Food Board).

Eileen is a qualified Executive and Leadership Coach with passion for working with Leaders and their teams to enhance their leadership capabilities, and assist them in building high performing teams.  

With a psychology background and 20 + years of experience working in the Financial Services, thereafter establishing and running a successful Property Company, she brings a style of originality, professionalism and curiosity to her Coaching.  

More recently along with a colleague she established ‘Resonate Leadership’ a boutique leadership development and executive coaching practice.
