Patrick is the Jefferson Smurfit Professor of Strategic Management and is currently Academic Director of Executive at the UCD College of Business. His research, teaching and consulting interests are in the areas of Strategic Management, Organisational Change, Leadership Development and International Business.
He graduated with a Ph.D. in Strategic Planning and Policy from the University of Pittsburgh. Prior educational qualifications at bachelor’s and master’s levels were gained at UCD. In the period 2004-2006 he was University Vice-President of Staff and Administrative Systems at UCD.
His previous academic and visiting appointments have included the European School of Management and Technology (ESMT), Peking University, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology; Pennsylvania State University, University of Pittsburgh, and Nanyang Business School in Singapore. Before entering academia, Patrick worked in a number of financial and corporate strategy roles with KPMG; Jefferson Smurfit Group; The Investment Bank of Ireland and An Post.

A first class honours, first place in class, Science (Microbiology & Biochemistry) graduate of University College Dublin, Prof. Niamh Brennan qualified as a chartered accountant with KPMG, holds a PhD from the University of Warwick and more recently qualified as a Chartered Director with the Institute of Directors (London).
She is Academic Director of the UCD Centre for Corporate Governance which she established in 2002. Chairman of the board of the National College of Art and Design, director of a number of private companies and member of the audit committee of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council and An Garda Síochána, Niamh is a former chairman of the Dublin Docklands Development Authority and a former non-executive director of the Health Services Executive, of Ulster Bank, of Lifetime, the Bank of Ireland’s life assurance subsidiary, of Coillte, the State forestry company and of Co-Operation Ireland.
Niamh served for seven years on the audit committee of the Department of Agriculture and Food and is former chairman and member of the Audit Committee of UCD. She was Vice-chairman of the Review Group on Auditing and Chairman of the Commission on Financial Management and Control Systems in the Health Services. She has published widely in the areas of Financial Reporting, Corporate Governance, Forensic Accounting and Clinical Governance.
She is a regular TV, radio and newspaper contributor.

Karan earned his PhD at University of Alberta, Canada in 2008. Before entering academia, he served as a Captain in the Indian Military. Karan has previously worked in India, Canada, and Spain and served on the faculty of the Instituto de Empresa Business School, Spain. His research, teaching and consulting interests are in the areas of leadership, stakeholder theory, behavioural strategy, institutional theory, and emerging markets. Karan has worked with a number of the Ireland’s leading organisations including CIE, Enterprise Ireland, Bord Bia and An Garda Siochana.

Dr. Dorota Piaskowska is associate professor in strategy and international business at University College Dublin, Ireland. She has earned her PhD from Tilburg University in the Netherlands and has also been a visiting scholar at the Lee Kong Chian School of Business at Singapore Management University. Dorota's research focuses on the antecedents and outcomes of strategic decisions concerning firm growth, in particular decisions regarding mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and alliances, internationalisation and scaling. She has a particular interest in the role of learning and experience at the organisational, top management team, and individual levels. Her work has been published in leading academic outlets and has been profiled in professional media. Dorota's teaching portfolio includes a range of undergraduate, graduate, and executive level modules in the areas of strategy and international business. She has taught in multiple locations, including Hong Kong, Ireland, the Netherlands, and Singapore. Dorota has also served as the Director of UCD Programmes in Singapore and the Academic Director of the MSc in International Management programme at UCD Smurfit School, which she led to achieve a top ranking among Masters in Management programmes in the Financial Times (number 7 in the world in 2018 based on the achievements of the cohorts of students under her directorship). Recipient of several grants and teaching and research awards, Dorota has also been recognised for her leadership contribution to the Academy of Management and has served two terms on the Board of the European International Business Academy. She is currently a member of editorial review boards of the Journal of World Business and Management International Review.

Dr Andrew Keating is an Associate Professor in marketing at the UCD Smurfit School of Business. Andrew earned his PhD in 2008 from UCD and also holds an MBS in Marketing, a DBS in Business, and a BA. His research interests at present are in the areas of the intersection between entrepreneurship (venture creation and development) and marketing, the internationalisation of new ventures, as well as exploring consumers and austerity. His research has appeared in leading academic journals such as Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice (FT 50 Journal), Industrial Marketing Management, Consumption Markets and Culture, and the Journal of Consumer Behaviour. He is the academic director for the UCD CEMS MSc in International Management and lectures in the area of consumer marketing and marketing and innovation. Andrew has also been involved in delivering executive education across many of the school’s executive education programmes including for the likes of Alltech, Enterprise Ireland, Google, InterTrade Ireland, and Bord Bia.

Professor of Accounting and Taxation, Gerardine is Director of the Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School and is Associate Dean of the UCD College of Business. Prior to being Director of the Smurfit School Gerardine has successfully undertaken several significant leadership roles in the School including Head of Accountancy Subject Area, Head of Teaching and Learning and Programme Director, MBA Health Services Management. Beyond the university, Gerardine has been a member of and chaired several significant committees and boards, including the Audit Committee of the Health Service Executive and the European Institute of Advanced Studies in Management.
Professor Doyle has developed a significant multidisciplinary research agenda in collaboration with many international colleagues at leading institutions, including Harvard Business School where Gerardine was a visiting scholar during 2017. Gerardine’s interdisciplinary research spans the disciplines of accounting, taxation, economics, medicine, public health and sociology. Gerardine has co-authored a number of successful funding applications with a total value over €14m, resulting in a multiplicity of publications and research awards. Gerardine is a founding Principal Investigator of the multi-disciplinary UCD technology centre Applied Research in Connected Health (ARCH) funded by Enterprise Ireland/IDA. In addition Professor Doyle is currently a Principal Investigator for a number of major international comparative research projects addressing key areas of health policy and tax policy including an Evaluation of Sugar Sweetened Beverage Taxes, Big Data against Childhood Obesity, Measurement of Population and Organisational Health Literacy and a number of studies surrounding value measurement for health care with colleagues at Harvard Business School.

Dr Ciaran Heavey joined the UCD College of Business in 2009 as an Assistant Professor in Strategic Management. He completed his PhD at the University of Connecticut. His research interests are focus on strategic leadership leadership, strategic entrepreneurship, and the interface of strategic leadership and digital technologies. His research on these topics has appeared in the Academy of Management Journal, the Strategic Management Journal, Organization Science, Journal of Management, and Journal of Management Studies among others. He currently serves on the editorial board of Journal of Management Studies, and he also serves as a Guest Editor for two special issues. He is currently editing a volume that examines the intersection of Strategic Leadership and the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Damien is Professor of Marketing and Associate Dean – Internationalisation and Distance Learning at UCD Smurfit School. He has served on the faculty of the S.C. Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University, Asia’s leading business school, the Indian School of Business and at Harvard Business School.
Known internationally as a Strategic Marketing specialist, Damien has published more than seventy papers in prestigious international journals and conferences. He published a book with David A. Aaker of UC Berkeley, Strategic Market Management: Global Edition. As a thought leader he has also written more than a dozen case studies, mainly relating to leadership issues in the food and agribusiness sector.
Damien has worked with a number of the world’s leading firms including Alltech, Allianz, Google, Hewlett-Packard and Microsoft. He designed and currently leads Alltech’s Global Advanced Management Development Programme and Bord Bia’s Marketing Fellowship Programme, and previously Google’s Marketing Academy for the EMEA region. A former Dean of UCD Smurfit School, in 2008 he was appointed to the Medical Council of Ireland and in 2010 to the board of the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA), by the Minster for Health and Children. As a board advisor he has worked with a number of high growth firms in the technology sector, including GeoGuides Ltd.
Damien has also been active as an expert witness in cases involving marketing issues. His work is highly regarded and has been recognised with a number of domestic and international awards and distinctions.

Dr. Marius Claudy is an Associate Professor of Marketing at UCD College of Business. His research is concerned with the adoption, diffusion and marketing of innovation, which he investigates in consumer as well as organizational contexts. His work has disseminated in international journals like the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of Public Policy and Marketing, Journal of Product Innovation Management, or the Journal of Business Ethics. His research has received several awards and prizes and attracted significant amounts of public funding. He is also passionate about teaching, for which he received the UCD College of Business Teaching and Learning Award for Teaching Excellence. As an educator, Marius strives to enable students and executives to understand and critically evaluate the underlying assumptions and motivations behind business decisions and strategies, and to assess the economic, social and ecological impacts of these decisions. Drawn towards the Socratic method, Marius encourages cooperative argumentative dialogue in the classroom to stimulate critical thinking and creative imagination. Before Marius pursued an academic career he worked as an Economist for the Department for Work and Pensions in London, during which he conducted strategic analyses in areas of social-welfare and labour market politics as well as climate change.

Dr. Margaret Cullen is a specialist in the areas of corporate and investment fund governance. Margaret holds a PhD in governance from University College Dublin. Her doctoral research explored the role and effectiveness of boards of directors in investment fund governance. She is a published behavioural researcher with particular interest in board effectiveness, processes, dynamics and decision-making, board and corporate culture, stewardship and corporate social responsibility. Prior to completing her doctoral research, Margaret worked for 12 years in the financial services industry. She has held senior positions at ABN AMRO International Financial Services Company, the Central Bank of Ireland, JP Morgan Bank Ireland plc and RBC Dexia Investor Services Ireland Limited where she gained significant experience in the areas of treasury management, investment fund regulation, compliance and risk management.
Following completion of her doctoral research Margaret joined the Institute of Banking (IoB) as Director of Executive Education. She designed and ran the IoB’s Certified Bank Director (CBD) and Certified Investment Fund Director (CIFD) Programmes from 2012. Margaret was the founding CEO and Academic Director of the Certified Investment Fund Director Institute (CIFDI), a specialist institute of the IoB which focuses on raising professional standards in investment fund governance through its CIFD Programme. Margaret taught investment fund governance on the programme for 8 years up to April 2020.
Margaret has been an assistant professor at the UCD Smurfit Business School for 13 years lecturing on the Professional Diploma in Corporate Governance in the subject areas of executive remuneration and behavioural aspects of boards and, since 2018, on the MSc in Strategic Management Accounting in the subject areas of Corporate Governance and Business Ethics. She is currently Co-Academic Director of the IoB’s CBD Programme on an associate basis and lectures bank governance on the programme. Margaret serves as a non-executive director on the boards of several financial services organisations. She has extensive board and board committee experience. She is a member of the Advisory Committee of the Fund Boards Council in the UK. She is also a Board Assessor with the Institute of Directors.

Gearóid is a management and leadership development Consultant with over 35 years’ experience of implementing real change. He has gained extensive experience and knowledge working in healthcare, financial services, technology, manufacturing, policing and higher education. His career has both an Irish and an international context, having worked across Europe, Middle East, Asia and the US. Gearóid is a highly sought after management consultant and executive coach who has more than 25 years lecturing experience in leadership and enterprise management on MBA and Masters programmes in a number of Universities.
In his consulting business Gearóid works with both public and private sector organisations to help them to realign their processes and ways of working to maximise the return on their efforts. He achieves this through a number of different interventions including the implementation of Lean and Scrum. After obtaining his Computer Science degree from Trinity College Dublin, he went on to study Leadership at the Kennedy School of Government in Harvard, received his MBA from UCD.

Ros is a highly experienced executive with a career spanning almost 20 years working with the Board and Executive of two of Ireland’s largest and most-respected companies: CRH plc, where she was Head of Group Compliance & Ethics, and Smurfit Kappa Group plc. She is a partner in Acorn Governance Solutions, a consulting firm providing advice and leadership training in governance, culture, risk, compliance and business integrity and she lectures on these topics with UCD Smurfit Graduate Business School and the Institute of Directors.
Ros is also a member of the board and audit and risk committees of Bank of Montreal (Ireland) plc, and sits on the board of the Food Safety Authority of Ireland and Pieta House. She has first class honours business and masters degrees from UCD, a professional diploma in Corporate Governance from UCD Smurfit Graduate Business School, is an associate of the Institute of Tax and a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, having trained with PwC. She also completed the Master Trainer programme at the Irish Management Institute is a graduate of the “Value Creation through Effective Boards” programme at Harvard Business School and is a Certified Bank Director, as designated by the Institute of Banking. Furthermore, Ros is author of the book “Leading with Integrity – a Practical Guide to Business Ethics”, and is a regular contributor to news and print media on related topics.

Professor Brian Hutchinson is Associate Professor in the School of Law at UCD where he has been a member of staff since 1991. A specialist in the fields of Company and Commercial Law and Alternative Dispute Resolution, he has researched and written extensively on Company Law, Arbitration and ADR, Commercial and Consumer Law, Contract Law and Agency, and Information Technology. He is a co-author with Dr Thomas B. Courtney of “The Law of Companies” (3ed, Bloomsbury 2012 and 4th edition forthcoming) and is author of the 5th edition of former Chief Justice Ronan Keane’s book “Keane on Company Law” (5ed. Bloomsbury 2016), and editor of the Consolidated Companies Legislation series as well as Editor of the Commercial Law Practitioner Law Journal, former Editor of Irish Business Law Journal, and a member of the Editorial Board of the Irish Jurist.
He is serving his second term as a member of the statutory Company Law Review Group and is chair of the sub-committee on the representation of companies in court and the sub-committee on Part II of the Companies Act 2014. Brian has been visiting lecturer variously at the University of Hannover, Germany (1993-1998), Duquesne University, Pittsburgh, USA (1998), De Paul University, Chicago, USA (1999 & 2006), and Stetson University, Florida, USA (2000), and he has also lectured at Boston University, Boston, USA (1995 & 1996), and Modul University Vienna, Austria (2012). He also teaches annually on the Duquesne University Summer Programme Ireland, and the Fordham University School of Law Summer Programme. In addition, as a qualified arbitrator and mediator, he has served as Arbitrator, as arbitrator's Legal Advisor, as party Legal Consultant in a number of domestic and international arbitrations and conciliations; and he has served as expert witness in multi-million pound UK litigation.

Pamela is an executive coach, coach tutor and coach supervisor.
Pamela has worked as a coach tutor and coach supervisor since 2014 and has practiced as a coach since 2008. Pamela works with clients across a diverse range of industry sectors in Ireland and the UK.
Prior to working as a coach, Pamela was business performance manager with Diageo Ireland and started career as a project manager with Bord Bia (The Irish Food Board).
Pamela hold a Masters in Executive Coaching and an Advanced Diploma in Organisational Supervision from Ashridge Business School in the UK as well as a Masters in International Marketing and a BA in Business.

Noel is a lecturer in law at the Sutherland School of Law UCD. His teaching and research interests embrace a broad portfolio of business and financial law with foci in company law and the law of secured credit. He holds a degree in law and a PhD from UCD and was called to the Bar of Ireland in 2010.He has previously held academic positions at the University of Ulster at Jordanstown and Dublin City University and has spent periods as visiting researcher at Osgoode Hall Law School, Ontario and at the International Institute for the Unification of Private Law (UNIDROIT), Rome.
He is the Company Law Correspondent for the Commercial Law Practitioner and the editor of the Irish Business Law Review, as well as the Programme Leader for the UCD/Law Society of Ireland Finuas Network Diploma in International Financial Services Law.

Professor Raomal Perera is a veteran of multiple entrepreneurial ventures and an adjunct professor of entrepreneurship at INSEAD where he currently teaches and studies entrepreneurship, innovation and the management of rapidly growing companies.
Raomal has over 30 years of experience in the IT, Communications and related technology industries. He is a serial entrepreneur having co-founded two technology companies and is one of a handful of Irish entrepreneurs to have taken a company public on NASDAQ (ICOR).
Raomal co-founded ISOCOR and was the Senior Vice President of Engineering and listed as one of the two ‘key employees’ in the listing documents when it was floated on the NASDAQ in 1996. The company was subsequently acquired by Critical Path in 1999. He then founded Network365, a provider of merchandising, payments, settlement solutions and managed services. The company acquired US company iPIN in 2003 and rebranded to Valista. Valista which was a leader in developing mobile payment technology was acquired by Aepona in 2009 and Aepona was acquired by Intel in 2013.
Raomal's most recent venture is ThousandSeeds (www.thousandseeds.com), a meeting place to stimulate entrepreneurship, business growth and learning through programmes, workshops and online communities.

Professor Loree is faculty at the Ivey School of Business where he joined in July 2000. Before moving to Ivey, he was a faculty member in the Management Department at Texas A&M University, where he served as a core faculty member of the full-time MBA program. David received a B.S. in electrical engineering from Bradley University, an MBA from University of Dallas, and a Ph.D. in Organizations, Strategy, and International Management from University of Texas. Before moving into executive education, he previously worked as a design and reliability engineer with Texas Instruments, Inc. on various national defense-related projects.
David has received the Ivey Teaching Innovation Award for innovative course design and curriculum. He currently teaches in the areas of leadership, management behaviour and change management for the core MBA programs in Canada as well as the Executive MBA programs in Canada.
David is the Director of the Ivey Leadership Program -- named by Financial Times as one of the world’s top ten programs in general management and leadership. Richard has extensive experience of working with financial institutions and technology companies throughout the world, assisting companies in managing enterprise risk more efficiently while addressing local regulatory guidelines and standards.
He is currently an Independent Non Executive Director at PermanentTSB Bank plc., JP Morgan Fund Administration Services (Ireland) Limited and JP Morgan Hedge Fund Services (Ireland) Limited. He has previously worked in various senior banking, insurance, credit and market risk roles at Wolters Kluwer Financial Services, ABN AMRO, Bain, COMIT Gruppe and Quay Financial Software. He has analysed, designed and managed the development of core treasury and enterprise risk management systems for large financial institutions, including UBS, Citibank, Schroders and Unicredito. In 2009, Richard was recognised as a “Top 50” Face of Operational Risk by Op Risk & Compliance magazine and was a contributing author to two books on risk management. He is also a board member of the Governance, Risk and Compliance Technology Centre which focuses on research in the area of financial services governance, risk and compliance. Richard has also received the designation of ‘Certified Bank Director’ by the Institute of Banking.

Matt is Managing Director of Advanced People Solutions Ltd. Matt has operated as a Business and Human Resources Consultant and an Executive Coach since 1998. He has worked with clients in many industries including Financial Services, Telecommunications, Technology, Education and the Semi-State Sector. He has extensive experience in developing selection and assessment processes used to help organisations make rigorous and robust selection decisions. Prior to this he worked in Financial Services for 11 years, in a variety of marketing positions.
In 2008, Matt completed a Master of Commerce research degree at UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School. The topic of his dissertation was; the recruitment and selection of non-executive directors in Irish plcs; the views of senior directors; assessing the impact of regulation on embedded board selection practices.
Matt completed an MBA, at UCD Smurfit School, in 1996. Matt also previously lectured (part-time) in Business Ethics at UCD Quinn School. He recently completed the Diploma in Legal Studies and the Barrister at Law Degree with the Kings Inns.

Ken is a fellow of Chartered Accountants Ireland, fellow of the Institute of Banking and completed his accounting training with PwC. He graduated from University College Cork with a BComm, from University College Dublin with an MBS and is a former accounting and finance lecturer at the University of Limerick.
Ken lectures in UCD at postgraduate and executive education levels as an associate member of the faculty. Ken has extensive teaching experience at undergraduate, postgraduate and executive education levels and on various international professional accounting education programmes being the senior financial reporting lecturer with BPP for over 25 years.
Ken is the director of risk management education at the Institute of Banking and the head strategic advisor at the Governments Credit Review Office.
Ken was head of the credit team at the Central Bank of Ireland and led the CBI credit and asset quality interaction with the Troika and responsible for the delivery of all credit related projects. During 2012, 2011, 2010, he led the CBI’s asset quality reviews, data validation and integrity reviews of the Irish covered financial institutions (AIB, BOI, PTSB, EBS, Anglo) mandated by the Troika under the Financial Measures Programme for Ireland (PCAR and PLAR).
Ken is a former general manager for business banking, corporate banking and institutional banking with Danske Bank Ireland and was a member of the banks executive committee.
He was a member of the Government working committee established to set up the loan guarantee scheme for the Irish SME sector.
