Programme Overview (50% Skillnet Ireland Funding Available - See How to Apply Section)
The current climate of supply chain disruptions, shortages and delays have made it abundantly clear what happens when companies, governments, and other organisations are lacking in supply chain management skills. Addressing both the recent disruptions and the urgent need to create sustainable supply chains that do not create harm to socio-ecological systems requires a radical rethinking of the supply chain network and how it is managed.
Supply chains are complex and global by nature with production and consumption located all over the world. Addressing key sustainability issues, such as reducing a supply chain’s carbon footprint, requires global coordination and action. Managing a supply chain has always centred around engagement between for profit firms. But to create sustainable supply chains also requires engagement with regulators, NGOs, and other members of civil society. This combination of factors means sustainable supply chain managers must be global thinkers with an ability to influence and engage with diverse stakeholders and networks.
The objective of this Diploma in Sustainable Supply Chain Management is to give participants the knowledge, tools, and insights to understand and manage sustainable supply chains. Participants will learn and apply the latest thinking from sustainable operations, logistics and purchasing along with advanced techniques for planning and controlling both operational and project environments. By participating in the Diploma, participants will gain a thorough understanding of how to manage their supply chain both strategically and operationally to positively contribute to their organisation’s economic, environmental, and social outcomes.
