My name is Johnathan Reddin, and I am beyond excited to share my journey as an Origin Green Ambassador with you. As someone with a passion for sustainable food systems, I feel incredibly fortunate to be a part of a programme that empowers individuals to make a real, positive impact on the environment.
Before I joined the programme, I completed an undergraduate degree in Agri-Environmental Science from UCD, where I developed a deep understanding of sustainable agriculture. But it wasn't until I became an Origin Green Ambassador that I truly grasped the complexities and fragility of the world's food system. The programme has allowed me to work with some of the biggest names in the industry, including Almarai Company in Saudi Arabia, Loblaw Companies Limited in Canada, and Majid Al Futtaim Retail (Carrefour) in Dubai.
During my work placements, I encountered countless opportunities to learn, grow, and make a difference. In Saudi Arabia, I had the chance to attend an Irish ministerial-led trade mission, visit some of the world's largest dairy farms, and see firsthand how sustainable practices can positively impact the environment. In Canada, I worked with the country's largest retailer and introduced Loblaw buyers to one of Ireland's leading dairy brands. And in Dubai, I attended the world's largest food conference, 'Gulf Foods', where I was inspired by the innovative ways that companies are tackling sustainability challenges.
One of the things I love most about the programme is its focus on personal and professional growth. The programme has helped me develop my project management skills, and I've learned the importance of effective relationship building, active listening, and the power of partnerships. But perhaps most importantly, I've gained a new appreciation for other cultures across the world and different work contexts. The programme has given me the opportunity to connect with people from all walks of life, and it has been truly eye-opening.
A typical day for me as an Origin Green Ambassador involves engaging with internal stakeholders to learn about the business and various pain points where I can add value. I present research findings and build cross-functional committees to deliver commercial value through sustainability initiatives. And while the work can be challenging, it's incredibly rewarding to know that I am making a positive impact on the world.
So, why should you consider applying for the Origin Green programme? Well, if you're passionate about sustainability and making a positive environmental impact on the industry, this programme is for you. You'll gain the knowledge, skills, and experiences necessary to become a leader in the field, and you'll have the chance to work with some of the biggest names in the industry. But more than that, you'll be part of a community of like-minded individuals who are all working towards a common goal: creating a sustainable future for generations to come.
In conclusion, I am so grateful for the opportunities that the Origin Green programme has given me. I believe that this programme has the power to change industry and make a real difference in the world. So, if you're ready to join me on this journey, I encourage you to apply for the programme and see where it takes you. It’s not every day you get to travel the world, continue to grow your career and leave with a world class masters at the end of it. Thank you for reading my blog, and I hope that my experiences have inspired you to make a positive impact on the world.
